Brent Myers Biography

Entering the 2009 college football season Brent Myers will have logged 27 seasons doing what he loves to do; coach college football. He is beginning his third season as the Louisville Cardinals offensive line coach.

In January of 2007 University of Louisville head football coach Steve Kragthorpe has announced Brent Myers, who was Arizona State's offensive line coach and running-game coordinator the past three seasons, has been hired to coach the Cardinals offensive line.

Brent Myers was named Arizona State's offensive line coach and running-game coordinator in February, 2004, after one season as the assistant head coach and offensive line coach at the University of Utah. Myers rejoined Dirk Koetter's staff after working as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for two seasons with him at Boise State in the late 90's.

In February of 2003 The University of Utah announced the hiring of former University of Washington offensive line coach, Brent Myers. Meyers was the assistant head coach and guards/centers coach for head coach Urban Meyer. In the (2003) season the Utes posted a 10-2 record and defeated Southern Mississippi in the Liberty Bowl. Utah was 6-1 in Mountain West Conference play, winning the school's first outright conference championship since 1957. The Utes were 21st in both the final major wire service polls.

Brent Myers, who served as offensive coordinator at Boise State last season, has been hired to coach the Husky offensive line, Washington head coach Rick Neuheisel announced in March of 2000. Myers served as an assistant coach at Washington for three seasons from 2000-2002, coaching the Husky offensive line. His tenure included a dominant option attack during the 2000 Rose Bowl

"Brent not only brings great energy and expertise to our program, but he is well known amongst our staff," Neuheisel said. "The cohesiveness of our staff should not be interrupted. He will be here for the start of spring practice and he'll have to learn on the run, but I'm sure he will adapt easily."

During the 2002 season his unit's pass blocking abilities helped Husky quarterback Cody Pickett to set a single-season passing record with 4,458 yards.

During the 2001 season Myers faced the task of building the offensive line around one returning starter. Despite the number of inexperienced players, the Husky line proved to be one of the best in the Pac-10. The lone senior, Kyle Benn earned All-Pac-10 honors and was a regional Academic All-American.

In 2000 he took over the offensive line coaching duties with only four returning starters and helped to mold them into one of the nation's best blocking units that led the Huskies to the Pac-10 title and a Rose Bowl Championship.

Two of the seniors on that unit, Elliot Silvers and Chad Ward, were All-Pac-10 selections and went on to be drafted by NFL. Ward also won the Morris Trophy, given to the Pac-10's top lineman, and was a second-team All-American.

Myers coached for Coach Dirk Koetter in 1998-99 at Boise State. "I'm excited and fortunate to get a coach of Brent's caliber," said head coach Koetter. "He's a proven winner and a veteran football coach."

In 1999, the Boise State Broncos led the Big West in offense with 33 points per game and averaged more than 414 yards per game in total offense while posting a 10-3 record. Myers joined the Boise State staff in 1998 and was promoted to offensive coordinator before the start of the 1999 season. At BSU, he helped lead the Broncos to the 1999 Big West Conference championship and a 34-31 victory over Louisville in the Humanitarian Bowl.

Myers was an assistant at Northern Arizona from 1992 to 1997. He worked with linebackers for one year before moving to the offensive line. He was named associate head coach in 1994 and offensive coordinator in 1996, when the Lumberjacks led the nation in total offense and scoring and became the first Division I team to have a 3,000-yard passer (Travis Brown) and a 2,000-yard rusher (Archie Ammerson) in the same season. That year, Myers was honored as Offensive Coordinator of the Year by the AFCA.

Myers coached at his alma mater from 1985 to 1991 in a variety of positions including tight ends, offensive line, linebackers and defensive line.

Myers began his coaching career in 1984 at Southern Illinois for former Husky assistant coach Ray Dorr
