Bruce Lambin is a World Champion Baseball Coach and producer of the only baseball training series approved by Little League, Pony, Dixie Youth Baseball, and the National Association of High School Athletic Coaches for the training of their coaches and players.
Lambin produced the widely acclaimed "Skills and Drills" series with Bragg Stockton which is now available in both VHS and DVD formats. The "Skills and Drills" series is a proven leader in teaching and training youth to play the game of baseball.
Just as "Skills and Drills" has become the standard for youth baseball training Bruce has written a book entitled
"A Parent's Guide to Baseball - Surviving and Thriving Youth League to College" which is certain to become the standard survival training course for parents of sons playing baseball.
Bruce Lambin is a CABA world champion baseball coach whose former players have advanced to the highest levels
of baseball including NCAA Division I baseball, Team USA, and Major League Baseball.
Written in a friendly, conversational style, you can trust the expert advice shared by Bruce Lambin. This is not a book on coaching, but rather a book that gives parents an inside look at baseball from "Youth League to College". This book is full of insight and inspiration and a must read for anyone wanting to understand the maturation process of a T-Baller to a college baseball player. From Little League tryouts to the All Star team....High School, College recruiting and scholarships, to pro tryout camps, Bruce Lambin is "the" Parents Guide To Baseball.
Coach Lambin raised and coached two talented T-Ball players who have become the best baseball players they could be. His oldest played at Texas while his youngest played shortstop for the powerful University of
Louisiana-Lafayette Rajun Cajuns. Both played with Team USA and in the Olympic Festival. Bruce has coached over 150 pro & college prospects (including six Major Leaguers) and continually shows a keen eye for many overlooked aspects of the game.
In "A Parent's Guide to Baseball - Surviving and Thriving Youth League to College" Bruce Lambin chronicles the glories and heartaches that are part of being a parent in a baseball home, he tells the truth about the lifestyle of a Baseball Family.
Thoughts and insights from Coach Lambin:
- "Precious times, special moments, a common ground, baseball, a father and a son together"
- "Why play baseball? Because father and son can share the experience"
- "It's fun, it's a challenge, it's practice, it's working to improve, to be the best that one can be"
- "The game is precious. The time is precious. Baseball! share with your son. You'll never regret it. He'll never
forget it"
- "Even if he never plays beyond the next game, it will be worth it to see him strive to be the best he can be"
- "The challenge of coaching is how to inspire the players to strive for excellence in overcoming a difficult task (baseball) so they can have a maximum amount of fun"
- "I would truly like to drive a stake through the phrase, "Just let the kids play ball and have fun!"
- There is nothing intrinsically fun about baseball.
Stand in the middle of a room and swing a bat. After about 30 seconds you will determine that this is no fun.
- Hitting the ball is fun! Swinging the bat and not hitting the ball is not fun.
- NOT catching the ball and having it hit you in the nose is NOT fun!"
The reason we have coaches is to teach the skills necessary so that the players can have the maximum amount of success and FUN! I guarantee the player that is batting .500 is having more fun than the one who is batting a buck fifty.
But the beautiful thing about baseball is that with discipline and hard work the player that is batting .150 can have more success and HAVE MORE FUN. What a great lesson in life to learn from a little boy's game. If you are disciplined and work hard, you will have more success and more fun!
I hope that because of my efforts as a baseball coach, I have motivated my players to develop character traits that will help them to became better doctors or lawyers or cab drivers or plumbers, when little boy's games are over.
