Curtis Loyd Biography

After six outstanding seasons serving the University of Arizona women's basketball program as an assistant coach Curtis Loyd has elected to move on to the University of Virginia in a similar capacity.

Debbie Ryan, UVA women's basketball head coach announced Monday September 13, 2004 that Curtis Loyd had agreed to join the Lady Cavaliers basketball staff as assistant women's basketball coach.

Said Coach Ryan at the time of the announcement: "We are pleased and fortunate to have Curtis Loyd join our staff. He brings a wealth of experience, knowledge of the game, and Division I capabilities to our program. I know he was an asset to Arizona. We were just lucky to get him at this late date. Curtis will be responsible for the guards at Virginia."

Loyd's college basketball playing career started at Northeastern Junior College. In two seasons at Northeastern he earned National Junior College Association of America All-America and NJCAA All-Region honors both seasons and was named Region Nine MVP his second season.
